An End-of-Life Doula, often referred to as a death doula, is a non-medical support person who provides emotional support for terminal illness, as well as practical and spiritual guidance to individuals and families navigating the final chapter of life. Just as birth doulas assist at the beginning of life, end-of-life support doulas are there to support its closing—with presence, compassion, and calm. We do not replace hospice, medical teams, or clergy. Instead, we work alongside them to ensure that no one feels alone, unheard, or unsupported.
Support looks different for every person and every family, especially in the context of end-of-life support. This assistance may include:
• Sitting vigil and offering a steady presence as a death doula
• Providing emotional support for terminal illness and companionship
• Helping facilitate meaningful conversations about the end of life
• Assisting with legacy projects such as letters, recordings, and memory books
• Guiding families through what to expect both physically and emotionally during this time
• Creating a peaceful environment in the final days
• Supporting loved ones before, during, and after passing
• Offering gentle grief support and connecting to community resources
At its heart, this work is about dignity, comfort, and honoring what matters most.
Quiet Lantern Care offers essential support for individuals facing terminal illness, providing compassionate emotional support. We assist families preparing for or experiencing loss, and we guide those who want help with planning their final wishes. Our services are for anyone who simply does not want to walk this path alone, including those in need of a death doula or end-of-life support.
At Quiet Lantern Care, I believe that death is a sacred transition. As a death doula, I lead with stillness to provide emotional support for terminal illness. I honor each person’s beliefs and create space for what feels important—whether that is quiet reflection, conversation, music, prayer, laughter, or simply sitting hand in hand. I strive to be a source of end-of-life support, bringing light in life’s quietest moments and guiding with stillness.
